Drawing from the historic use, methods, and patterns of North American quilts, I’m interested in how the object of a quilt can be a container for storytelling, geometry, tactility, memory, time, and often, love. The quilts that I make use traditional patchwork patterns as a ground on which layered compositions of appliqué and embroidery are built upon. Their imagery pulls from landscapes, neighborhood walks, cathedrals, and domestic spaces. They combine abstract and representational imagery to reference themes of longing, grief, love, and hope.
