Along a quiet road in West Falmouth (MA) lies this salt marsh, home to local shore birds and one of my favorite spots to observe them. The area is surrounded by native trees and shrubs which I try to portray in detail, including materials like raffia, cording, and unraveled burlap to illustrate the vegetation’s texture. The leaves in the foreground are three dimensional so that I can share that feeling of stepping into the brush to observe a hidden world.
