This piece originated out of grief in losing my mother in 2021 at the age of 98. Her love and appreciation for others was profound and she lived by these words that meander through this work. In mourning her life, I cut, I sewed, I placed the lettered shapes upon the wall, and I thought of her, and my own journey and my relationships with others. By creating this work, I sought both tension and harmony in its totality. The little orange triangle, the outlier, the one that is difficult to accept; I challenge the viewer and myself to consider its placement and existence.
